Perhaps you have sometimes dreamed of building your own little house somewhere, or just want to get closer to nature. Here you get the tools and knowledge to realize your dream.
All the cottages in the wood hermitage are built by ourselves with simple means, basic tools and timber from the farm. Learn about the wild herbs that can be used for cooking, medicine or crafts, how to build a cottage, handle an axe and knife, make a fire and much more ...
You choose to either just attend the course or to even take the opportunity and combine it with a stay in our wood hermitage. For 2-3 intensive days you will learn lots about the woods and nature.
Lunch and coffee are included.
accommodation and other meals are not included but can be booked as an option.

No prior experience necessary. Minimum age is 16 years.
Urnatur on the table
We are foraging, collecting what we can find in the close surroundings, using it to cook exciting food, baking bread and healthy drinks. Dress to be outdoors all day. We cook over an open fire and in our outdoor kitchen.
May is perhaps the most enjoyable months when it comes to cooking with wild plants. There are so many beautiful, healthy and tasty herbs both in the garden plot and in the wild.

Håkan has built all the houses in the wood hermitage himself! Over the years we have received many inquiries if he can not hold a carpentry course. This is a
short course about the basics. Take the chance!

Haymaking with ascythe and building "gärdesgård" fence
3 days of theoretical and practical knowledge
A practical course in haymaking and fence building.
For those of you who love our cultural meadows with its rich biodiversity ...
Early in the morning before the dew has passed away, we begin to cut the meadows with the scythe. We learn to handle and sharpen the scythe and we will have a look around on the farm, discussing why we have to look after the nature to gain a higher biodiversity.
Later in the day we build a traditional Småland gärdesgård fence - just as it has been done for the past hundreds of years. Bring your own scythe if you have.

fire & knife
3 days of theoretical and practical knowledge
Håkan has built the wood hermitage - with a few basic tools. The most important were the knife, saw and ax.
These days we concentrate on the fire and the knife. Kind of the basics in human life and survival. How do you handle a knife, how to chop wood with an ax - very useful knowledge for a life in the forest and the cabin.
You learn how to sharpen a knife and plenty of tips and tricks in knife handling, carving, how to cleave wood with an ax or knife...
Hakan will teach you the basics of starting fires in both wood stoves and open fires in the woods- with matches, fire steel, and only with sticks. Learn how to adjust the heat when you are cooking over an open fire.
